I use Linux at work and at home. I've been using Linux since 1994. These
notes were written for all sorts of reasons, and I cleaned them up and
put them here so I don't forget. They are mostly specific to Slackware
Linux.
I've been told that nowadays an old Linux user is the wrong person to
ask for help with Linux. We remember the old ways, and remember how to
fiddle with this text file or that config file, and that just confuses
new users. Nowadays, the new user merely needs to run some nifty Gnome
or KDE GUI application and all things are solved. That's probably true.
I'll do it my way. I like to know where things are and how they work.
If these notes are useful, great. If not, it might be better to ask
someone who knows the new ways of Linux.
